Wishing you all a very Happy New Year and welcome to the first post of 2021. Cleanser is an important part of skincare routine. It cleans and preps your skin for all the following products to sink in and work better. All your skincare products are of no use if you are putting them on a dirty skin.
Gel cleansers are a thing right now, everyone is moving away from the foaming cleansers. Gel cleansers works great for all skin types. Being a person with dry skin I understand the importance of a good gel cleanser.
About the Cleanser and its Claims :-
As per the Product Details on Sephora website – “Essential-C Cleanser’s patented antioxidant-rich formula removes environmental impurities, rehydrates, and awakens the senses with a burst of citrus. Phospholipids and sodium PCA attract and bind moisture to dry skin. While a combination of vitamins A, C, and E defend skin from free radical damage”
The cleanser is from the Environmental Shield Line from Murad which focuses on protecting the skin from environmental damage.
About the Texture and Scent of the cleanser :-
The cleanser has a clear gel texture with tiny yellow pearls in it which I assume are the Vitamin C infused thing. However, the pearls are not for exfoliation and when rubbed between palms they burst and melts. The cleanser does not foams up but gives a light creamy lather.
It has a very mild citrusy scent to it and it gives a really clean and refreshed feeling.
About the Ingredients of the Cleanser :-
This cleanser has humectants like Glycerin which makes it hydrating. Other humectants are Butylene Glycol and Panthenol.
It contains Ascorbyl Palmitate and Ascorbic Acid that are the stable from of Vitamin C but these are not the key ingredients i.e. they are not in the first 5 ingredients mentioned. So the Vitamin C part is less potent but it is a cleanser and you will have it on your skin for just a minute.
One thing that I think a lot of people would not like about the cleanser is that it contains a lot of fragrance. Fragrant oils like Orange Oil, Mandarin Orange Peel Oil and Grapefruit Peel Oil and it also has added fragrance in it.
Personally I don’t mind fragrance specially in my cleansers. I feel the citrus scent wakes me up in the morning. I also do not have sensitivity to fragrance but if you do then you might want to skip on this one.
𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓕𝓾𝓵𝓵 𝓘𝓷𝓰𝓻𝓮𝓭𝓲𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓼 𝓵𝓲𝓼𝓽 𝓲𝓼 𝓪𝓼 𝓯𝓸𝓵𝓵𝓸𝔀𝓼 :-
Water, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Aminomethyl Propanol, Polysorbate 20, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Panthenol, Phospholipids, Tocopheryl Acetate, Retinyl Palmitate, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Ascorbic Acid, Chitosan, Rice Amino Acids, Zinc Aspartate, Allantoin, Sodium PCA, Lactose, Cellulose, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Propyl Gallate, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Chlorphenesin, Limonene, Linalool, Orange Oil, Mandarin Orange Peel Oil, Basil Oil, Grapefruit Peel Oil, Galbanum Resin Oil, Fragrance, Iron Oxides (CI 77492).
How to Use the Murad Cleanser :-
Suitable to be used both morning and second cleanse at night because it does not remove makeup. Take a dime size amount and rub it between your palms to emulsify the yellow pearls. The creamy lather rinses off well leaving the skin feeling clean and refreshed. Skin feels hydrated and not stretchy or dry.
Where to buy the Murad Essential C Cleanser :-
I received mine in a subscription box, but you can buy it at Ulta or Sephora. Although it seems a bit pricey, but you get a lot of product for the price. And since you only need a tiny amount with every use it could last you for months.
Overall Conclusion :-
Overall it is a hydrating cleanser which awakens your skin in the mornings. I have been using it for months and I absolutely enjoy it. The cleanser is non stripping and refreshing featuring some promising ingredients to replenish dry damaged skin.
However, the product claims to do a lot for a cleanser. Murad has some really great products but I still feel it’s a lot to claim about a cleanser. If you are in hunt for a good gel cleanser and you do no mind some fragrance, give it a try.
